The Adega Cooperativa de Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo is located at the foot of the Serra da Marofa mountain range, between the Côa and Águeda river valleys, close to the Douro river. It was founded in 1956 by 154 members, organized as a cooperative, and currently has around 350 associates.

The winery is part of the Beira Interior Demarcated Region, in the sub-region of Castelo Rodrigo, characterized by a continental climate with Mediterranean influence and soils dominated by schists and sandstones.

This region has a long winemaking tradition, dating back to the 12th century, when the Cistercian monks of the Convent of Santa Maria de Aguiar introduced the first viticultural knowledge to the area.
